For what it’s worth, notice that the number of average monthly unique visitors to the New York Times’ site is nearly double its closest competitor (19.5MM to 10.8 MM). A huge amount of traffic may not matter if the NYT is unable to come up with a viable online business model, but it’s interesting how much of a lead in traffic they have over their counterparts.
